Recently, Anthem Blue Cross decided to raise insurance premiums by as much as 39% starting in March 2010. Starting in March, I will be paying $70 more for my medical insurance and $8 more for my dental insurance. This means that starting in March, I will be paying a total of $338 per month for coverage..and this is just a bit more than bare-bones coverage! With the additional rise in medication costs, and the fact that I have at least one Rx for a medication that has no generic counterpart, my copays for medication are also rising which is hurting me further. This Rx, Lexapro, is now a total of $121 for only 30 pills! My wonderful insurance only ponies up $26 of that which leaves me to pay the remaining $95 each month. It’s a complete travesty, and something needs to be done NOW!! President Obama’s cabinet is investigating these illegal Anthem Blue Cross increases. When I called to ask about the rate increases, I was told that it was due to the fact that I was aging another year (in March…uh…you do have my birthdate on file, don’t you?) and because of the yearly rate increases. Bull ****! My birthday is not until July and you have only raised the premuims perhaps twice while I have been a subscriber for 4-5 years! I didn’t get into a heated argument with the rep., as it was probably pointless, but I do want to voice my anger. I hope that you will help me by signing this petition.
