A number of states are in fiscal crisis, and this has resulted in huge cutbacks in terms of education and health care to the needy. Our safety net, which was intended for the legal residents of this country in times of need, is in jeopardy. This is another slap in the face from this administration, and we simply can’t afford it any longer. Obama has been reluctant to indicate his intentions regarding this issue when he takes office, but we have a responsibility as US taxpaying citizens to step up and speak out. I know it’s a touchy subject, and in a perfect world, the entire population would be welcome, but WE CAN’T AFFORD IT ANYMORE! The federal government estimated Georgias illegal alien population at 228000 persons as of 2000 and it raised that estimate to 490000 persons in 2008. 1) The federal estimates suggest that over 90 percent of the increase in the foreign-born population in Georgia since 2000 has resulted from illegal immigration.
