Hi,

I’m planning on moving to the US in a few years (and I’m hoping my type 1 son will come with me!). I am from the UK and don’t really know too much about medical expenses (obviously we get it free… along with our huge tax bills!). I understand that Americans pay via medical insurance; my son’s condition is quite well controlled, how much would I expect to pay yearly for basic type 1 expenses?
I understand that it is very difficult to give a figure as there are so many variables, although thanks for some great advice, Erich.

He is a minor, on injections. He is quite well controlled so has no related complications, I think his main costs would be the insulin, test strips, etc, plus the odd visit to a doctor/hospital.
