I had a small accident last week in which I hit a motorcyclist from behind at a junction at around 10 MPH. Myself and the other lad talked at the side of the road and became quite friendly and even joked about the accident, his exact words during the conversation were “Don’t worry about anything, NO ONE WAS HURT.” We exchanged insurance details and that was that, we went our separate ways.
Now I have a letter from a solicitor saying he is making a claim for injuries, including soft tissue wounds, bone injury and whiplash. This is complete nonsense and he’s obviously making up these injuries in order to get himself a nice big payout.
I know I don’t have to pay anything out of my own pocket, that’s what insurance is for, but I’m a very decent and honest person and this kind of thing boils my blood.
I’ve phoned the solicitor involved and kind of lost my temper and raised my voice a little, calling them vultures and telling them they give real solicitors a bad name. I also phoned my insurance company to inform them of a possible fraudulent claim. They agree that most people lie to medical professionals just to get a payout and even a doctor can’t prove that an individual is or isn’t in pain.

I would appreciate answers from anyone in the legal profession or anyone with good knowledge on these situations, please don’t answer with something dumb just for the sake of earning two points.
